The Bear also tends to flap when very happy and excited (oh, and when she's trying to hold in a BM, but she has a much different expression on her face at that time). As such, I also see flapping as a window into her mood, and see no reason to try to stop her. Instead, I also smile along with her.

Z absolutely HATES going to the movies and very very rarely will sit down with us to watch a movie at home. When he does sit down to watch, though, he usually enjoys it. I'm not sure exactly what it is that bothers him (loud noise/music from his video games doesn't seem to bother him), I'm sure it is a combination of things.

One thing he absolutely has no tolerance for is THX encoding. He doesn't even want us to play a THX movie when he's not around - if we want to buy one we have to do it when he isn't with us.

The tics are less frequent although they do return periodically, but the vocalization happens when he's concentrating / focused as well as when he's excited.

We used to sing "if you're happy and you know it flap your hands!" Glad to hear this tradition lives on. My son no longer flaps. His "different" thing in the movies now is that he laughs very loudly, very long, and little bit after everyone else!

Charlie always has to get up a few times when we see movies in theatres. He has been choosing a seat in the back and I try to go when it is not too busy (on the other hand, it's not a bad thing to go when a lot of kid are there----plenty of other voices stage-whispering during the show).

Think we'll skip Bridge----Charlie really liked Flushed Away.
